Hello...I ‘d like to start off by saying thank you for clicking over to my section of the EJ site. I am going to try to not be boring in this little bio thing...and hopefully be a little interesting at the same time.

Nominated for "Best Cinematography" at the 2006 - 168 Hour film Festival.

I have always considered my self an artist, from my crayon drawings in 1st grade to my Boy Scout photography merit badge to the latest film I shot. I am very interested in the way color and light play with each other, how they mix, and how it looks on film, DV or any other media that I may use to convey emotion. Every time I take on a project I like to throw in a little structured chaos, randomized perfection, & deliberate whimsy.  It keeps me going.

A ‘larger than me’ full size Panasonic VHS recorder is where I started. For a ‘worth more than my life’ price, it sure provided some crummy images, but it was sufficient for my purposes. Subjects were varied, but mainly included skateboarding, stupid friends, air guitar and domestic cat hunting. My first dolly shot was on my gummy-wheeled skateboard rolling down a narrow sidewalk with ½ inch expansion cracks. Kah-chunk, Kah-chunk, Kah-chunk.  If my Dad only knew the speed that his camera had achieved, it would have cut my DP career short at the larval age of 12.

Where did all of this insolence occur? Well....a small college town in Southern Minnesota called Mankato.  I was perfectly content with living out the rest of my life here, no questions asked. That is until I met a feisty young lady with whom I fell in love and made my wife. Katie was an actor in Minnesota, which is about as common as a Snowplow Driver in Hollywood.  She got this crazy idea to pack up and head West in order to dive even further into her craft. Needless to say, I followed and we relocated to the mostly sunny San Fernando Valley. While out here I have worked on various projects with the EJ team as well as projects out side of EJ.  Heck a few of the projects that I worked on, in and around have won some awards...check my resume for more detail, if you like.

Well...I would say that is about it for now....check out some of the other stuff here on page. Thanks for your time....I know your a busy person.  –Rob

RT Norland, our in-house cinematographer, was on the spot with his camera.

Check out the fire footage.
